Meet The Team

I was a boarder at Silcoates School, Wakefield between 1948 and 1956. I carried out my 2 years national service between 1958-1960 serving in the Queens Own Hussars at Catterick, Tidworth then abroad in Libya. Following this I worked with my father in the family haulage business before gaining employment working for Hepper & Sons in Leeds, then Evans of Leeds property group. I founded both Woodheads Estate Agency and Woodhead Investment & Development Services Ltd, with my wife Susan, back in 1965. We sold the residential estate agency in 1982 to give greater attention to the property investment and trading company. Today, I am responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the business as the Chairman and Director of Woodhead Investments, supported by sons, Mark and David. Personal interests include shooting, swimming, socialising and eating out. I am a member of the British Association of Shooting and Conservation (BASC). I have been married since 1964 (to the same person!), have 2 sons, 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson.

After Silcoates School and Newcastle Poly, I joined a Castleford based firm of surveyors / agents, carrying out various commercial and residential jobs throughout Yorkshire. Joining Woodhead Investments in 1993, it was “in at the deep end”. Now Managing Director, I deal with everything you can think of! I studied at Silcoates School, Wakefield and Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 1997 with an Upper Second Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Land Economics. I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1999. My previous roles include working as a graduate surveyor for Weatherall Green & Smith (now Sanderson Weatherall) and then as a qualified General Practice surveyor working for Vickers Orriss. I joined Woodhead Investments & Developments Services Ltd in 2001 and became a Director / Company Secretary.  Whilst this involves a variety of property management skills, I now specialise in rent review and lease renewal negotiations and the acquisition of residential, commercial and agricultural property. My current personal interests include swimming, shooting, travelling abroad and playing golf. I am a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), Yorkshire Shooting Centre and Wakefield Rifle and Pistol Club. I joined Woodhead Investments & Development Services Ltd in January 2004, having previously worked as a Secretary at Sanderson Weatherall (formerly Weatherall Green & Smith) in Leeds for 13 years. During my time with Sanderson Weatherall, I worked in a variety of departments including Landlord & Tenant, Insolvency and Property Management. My current role is to manage the Commercial Property portfolio, including day to day issues relating to maintenance and repairs; tenant queries; preparation of rent, service charge and insurance invoices; monitoring aged debtors; and I am also involved with the annual Property Insurance renewal. Out of work, my interests include power walking, netball, theatre and concerts, socialising and spending quality time with my two children and family. I studied at Thornes House School and Ings Road College, Wakefield. Previous Employment: Worked in Leeds for over 20 years with Yorkshire Bank and Eddisons – Secretarial/Administration Roles. I joined Woodheads in April 2011 and am involved in managing our car parks, residential lets, invoicing and general day to day administration roles. I joined Woodhead Investments in March 2022 which I really enjoy and work with a fabulous team. I have worked in different areas of the property industry for the last 8 years including Estate and Letting Agency. I have also obtained the qualification NFOPP Level 3 Award in Residential Letting and Property Management and Level 3 Award in the Sale of Residential Property. I currently deal with many office tasks, supporting the commercial and residential team and look forward to the new challenges this will undoubtedly bring. I enjoy meeting new people, visiting museums and historical places and assisting my partner with fishing.

I joined Woodhead Investments & Development Services Ltd in May 2022 and manage our various car parks. This includes calculating and producing invoices, dealing with any tenant queries, producing relevant paperwork and permits, monitoring/chasing aged debt and dealing with any car park related contractor queries/invoices. I also assist with our commercial and residential properties, along with general office administration. I previously worked in residential lettings for over 15 years, and prior to that over 13 years in banking/financial services. Out of work I enjoy spending quality time with my family, our ponies and furry friends, socialising, travelling, listening to music, and attending live music events.
