At Woodhead Investments, we often make it clear that we are enthusiastic about providing Wakefield and the local areas with opportunities to grow and succeed. When we are given the chance, we take pride in helping the city to grow.

Earlier this year, we requested planning permission from Wakefield council regarding one of our properties in the city centre, which as of the beginning of July had officially been granted!

The proposed plans were set to introduce one of Yorkshire’s and the UK’s most aspirational colleges to Wakefield. Askham Bryan are one of the country’s leading land and agricultural educational facilities, and with their main campus in York, they have now expanded into Wakefield.

Founded in 1936, this expansion has seen the college add to its already existing campuses that can be found in Leeds, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Guisborough, Bradford, Scarborough and Penrith. The Wakefield campus now offers a range of courses including Horticulture and Animal Management to approximately 100 students.

The Wakefield branch of Askham Bryan College is located in Bull Ring House, in the centre of Wakefield. With recent expansions to Wakefield college, this is another positive development for education in the city.

Head over to their website to find out more or apply for  a course!

As previously mentioned, this is great news for Wakefield, and shows that the city is being considered as an important player within Yorkshire.
